Something to think about:

Weapon bans are laws and only affect law-abiding citizens. Criminals don't care about laws, if they did care they wouldn't be criminals.

More people accidentally  drown every year than are accidentally shot yet we don't see anybody trying to outlaw swimming pools.

Hanging a no weapons allowed sign outside your place of business is an invitation to the bad guys to come in and rob you.

Good intentions don't stop killers, people with guns do.

People with guns save 10 time more lives than taken but you never read about that in the news.

Ted Nugent with Evan Smith - Texas Monthly.

Ted explains so clearly how so many of us feel and what we believe in.

Gun Free Zones do not work.

Finally, a news organization with the guts to air the truth we already know!

What you need to know

There are people in this country that for some reason want law-abiding citizens defenseless against crime. Does that sound crazy? Here is a test. Ask someone you know who believes guns are the root of all evil or even yourself this question.

You are at home in your study finishing up some work, your spouse is in another room and your two daughters are sleeping. Next thing you know two guys are in your house. One has a BB gun and the other has a rope. What would you do?

My guess is you would get one of the following two answers.

1. I would do what they say and hope they don't hurt or kill me and my family.

2. The odds of that happening to me or my family are slim to none.

Both answers are programmed responses. We are raised to believe that the police are our saviors but in real life they are not. We are our own saviors. If we can't protect ourselves then what good are we?

We need to protect ourselves from those in society that do not hold our beliefs or morals.

After reading the above ask yourself this.

Can you protect your family?

The police can not be everywhere all the time. Usually the police do not get to a crime scene until after the crime is done. By the time they get there you, a family member or a friend could be seriously injured or dead. Criminals choose the time and place of their assaults, and they  ensure that their crimes occur when the police are not around. Criminals choose their victims, and they  choose those over whom they believe they have an advantage, be it due to them having possession of a weapon, their youth, strength, or numbers. It is in the nature of things, therefore, that the victims will almost certainly be alone and be at a disadvantage relative to their assailant. The encounter will not be on equal terms; the fight will not be "fair." Without a weapon, an "equalizer" to overcome those natural disadvantages, it is unlikely that the victim will have an effective means of defending themselves. Without a weapon, it is very likely that whether the victim lives, dies or is injured will depend largely or entirely on the mercy of his assailant.

The most fundamental justification for concealed-carry laws is the right to life. Each person has a right to life, not just those who have demonstrated some special "need" or "proper cause". Indeed, our Declaration of Independence asserts that governments are instituted to secure the right to life. The right to life of necessity implies the right to maintain or continue one's life by defending it against violent criminal assault. Yet the right to defend one's life is meaningless, or a hollow promise, unless that right also encompasses the right to the means necessary for the effective exercise of that right.

Since the right to life implies a right to the means to protect that life, the individual's right to his own life necessarily implies a right to keep and bear arms suitable for self-defense. In this place and time, that means a handgun, small enough to be carried at almost all times. The presumption, therefore, of a government that respects its citizens' right to life and self-defense must be that they are permitted to carry arms to protect themselves.

More people are saved because of guns than are hurt. Gary Kleck -- who incidentally is a liberal Democrat and an ACLU member -- found that American gun owners use their guns almost 2-1/2 million time per year to ward off criminal attack. That's once every 13 seconds!  Most of the time, the guns are not even fired. Just showing a gun is enough to send criminals fleeing. These events will not be recorded and you will never hear about them in the main stream media due to the fact that a crime never happened so it is not good ratings material. Could you imagine living in a country where when you turn on the local news on your TV and instead of hearing about how many people died today you would hear how many people did not die because the crime was prevented. Wouldn't it be nice?

Peter Shields, founder of Handgun Control Inc.
(Now known as The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence) -- the largest gun control group in America -- has some advice for women threatened by attackers.

He said, "give the attacker what they want."

Did you know:

  • As many as 200,000 women use a gun every year to defend themselves against sexual abuse.

  • Even anti-gun Clinton researchers concede that guns are used 1.5 million times annually for self-defense. According to the Clinton Justice Department, there are as many as 1.5 million cases of self-defense every year. The National Institute of Justice published this figure in 1997 as part of "Guns in America" -- a study which was authored by noted anti-gun criminologists Philip Cook and Jens Ludwig

  • Armed citizens stop more crooks than the police. Citizens stop at least twice as many criminals as police do every year.

To outlaw guns would potentially allow 2-1/2 million more crimes a year to happen. Think about that.

Most news agencies will have you believe that guns are a problem and getting rid of the guns will get rid of the crimes they are used in. This is so far from the truth. We live in a time where terrorists want to kill us, unemployment is at an all time high and crime is at an all time high. So what is the answer, "take guns from the law abiding citizens." Guns are not the problem, people are the problem. Bad people do bad things and they will use any weapon at their disposal to get what they want. If no gun is available they will use a sword, if no sword is available they will use a knife, if no knife is available they will use scissors. The question is will you have access to a weapon that meets or exceeds the attackers or will you and your family fall prey to them.

The UK outlawed guns, are they better off today? Their death rates are just as high and in some parts of the country even higher. The criminals still have guns  and the law-abiding citizens do not. Now they are outlawing swords. See Here. What will be next? Their knives, their scissors? Liberal politicians want you to think the UK is safer now since guns are illegal. See Here. Their citizens are going to jail for not being victims. They are going to jail for defending their property. See Here, Here and Here. In the UK the burglar has a right to the homeowners' property. UK law gives the first-time criminal a punishment of a warning. See Here.

A study found American burglars fear armed homeowners more than the police. As a result, burglaries are much rarer and only 13% occur when people are at home, in contrast to 53% in England.

Gun controls disarm only the law-abiding, and leave predators with a freer hand. Nearly two and a half million people now fall victim to crimes of violence in Britain every year, more than four every minute. If they try to defend themselves they will go to jail, if they don't defend themselves they might be killed.

This is what the Liberal left and Brady Campaign want for you.

Take a look at the map below. Forty eight of our fifty states allow concealed carry of some form. No matter what you hear on the news or from politicians,  Americans expect the right to protect themselves. We see it every day. Our most recent example of that is the lift of the gun ban in Washington DC.

In 1976, the District Court had banned the possession of all handguns not acquired and registered before that year. D.C. law also prohibits keeping an assembled rifle or shotgun in the home, effectively outlawing the use of firearms for lawful self-defense. Despite these Draconian gun control laws, Washington, D.C., consistently has one of the highest murder rates in the nation. The reason in not because they need tougher gun control but because gun bans only effect the law abiding citizens. Think about it, if a criminal in DC decides to rob a store they have nothing to worry about. Guns are not allowed in DC so the law abiding store clerks will be unable to protect themselves. Only criminals and police have guns. For over thirty years DC was an almost guaranteed win for the criminals. They had nothing to worry about when it came to resistance other than the police and their murder rates prove it. See the statistics here (District of Columbia).

Since 1991, 24 states have adopted right-to-carry laws. In the same period, the number of privately owned firearms has risen by nearly 70 million and violent crime is down 38%. In 2005, right-to-carry states had, on average, a 22% lower violent crime rate, a 30% lower murder rate, a 46% lower robbery rate and a 12% lower aggravated-assault rate.

UPDATE:
On June 26 2008 the US Supreme Court voted to abolish the ban on fire arms in Washington D.C. It was decided that the ban violated the citizens second amendment rights. See Here

On June 26 2008, the NRA filed a law suit against Chicago for their ban on firearms. See Here

On June 27 2008, Wilmette, Ill Suspended it's Local Handgun Ban. See Here

Researchers John Lott ,David Mustard and Gary Kleck have found that allowing citizens to carry concealed weapons deters violent crimes, and it appears to produce no increase in accidental deaths. If those states that did not have right-to-carry concealed gun provisions had adopted them in 1992, approximately 1,570 murders, 4,177 rapes and over 60,000 aggravated assaults might have been avoided yearly.
